Something from Daniel Kahneman

Daniel Kahneman, who won a Nobel Prize in 2002, has issued a warning to a subset of his psychologist colleagues, telling them to increase the reproducibility of their research.” (from The Scientist)

My whole time in a facet of this business was  spent directly practicing some of what his Nobel Prize honored him for. I’ve directly experienced not being able replicate what I’d found in a journal or text book. Sometimes my problem was seated in my own misapplication, yet, I also witnessed a too common tendency for in all of us direct practitioners to wad up and toss a piece of research into the trash can. When none of us could make use of it we’d discovered invalidness in a fragment of research.
