Before this, I had never come across Ellen Langer. She is now someone from whom I must begin drawing out thoughts. It is her critique of meditation that I see both as on and off target. Core meditation is meant to accomplish recognizing that there is nothing we must be awaiting. It is being in the moment and not those desired end products such as creativity, accomplishment or even relationships which I have learned to work toward.
Ellen’s encouragement to move awareness away from obsessing on the minutia to seeing and feeling the whole is powerful. Such does not keep one from dealing with the parts. Rather, it keeps everyone’s potential OCD from kicking into overdrive.
Now that you’ve found your way through my trivialities hop, skip and of course, jump over to ONBEING.ORG and watch her nearly hour long talk.
